Machine valuation even faster and more reliable - appraisals for precise valuation

Safe machines protect people and the environment, but also increase the profitability and thus the competitiveness of machine manufacturers and users. A well-founded machine valuation with a professional valuation report helps you to determine the realistic market value for used machines and systems and thus makes the sales process considerably easier.

Good to know

  • Valuations promote trust and transparency when selling and can speed up the sales process.
  • With a realistic valuation, you can avoid financial losses and maximize the selling price.
  • Full appraisals are legally sound and are recognized by banks and authorities, while brief appraisals offer quick and cost-effective assessments.

What is a valuation report?

An appraisal is used to determine the market value of a machine or complete system.

The result of an appraisal is the market value

  • The market value (market value) is the price that can be expected to be achieved in a sale based on the location and condition of the used machine or system at the time of the appraisal (valuation date).
  • Subjective factors and special influences should be excluded when determining the market value.
  • However, the market value is not a mathematically exact figure, but is also based on estimates. It is therefore possible that different valuers will arrive at different results.

What advantages does a valuation report have for the seller?

  • A professional valuation report for used machinery provides a realistic estimate of the selling price that can be achieved on the market. This reduces the likelihood that you will sell your machinery for less than it is worth and protects you from potential financial losses.
  • An appraisal informs you of the sales price that can realistically be achieved for your used machine or system based on market conditions. As the seller, you also avoid financial losses that could arise from an underestimated asking price.
  • With an appraisal for a used machine, the seller proves to the buyer the value of the machine and the justification of the asking price. An appraisal provides clarity about the value of a used machine and shortens price negotiations.
  • A well-founded used machine valuation makes it easier for the buyer's bank to decide whether to finance the machine or system.
  • An appraisal therefore makes a significant contribution to speeding up the sale of the machine.

Used machinery appraisal: Complete appraisal or short appraisal?

Full appraisals contain a detailed market value assessment, whereas brief appraisals present the key value-determining factors in a compact form. Which appraisal you need depends on the specific sales target and the condition of your machine.

Full appraisal or complete appraisal

Advantages:

  • A full appraisal is particularly recommended for the sale of young or new machines and equipment, and can also be understood by outsiders and non-experts due to the comprehensive presentation and is suitable for use in court and is recognized by banks and authorities.

Disadvantages:

  • The significantly higher costs of a full appraisal compared to a short appraisal.
  • In addition, the appraiser often needs several weeks to prepare a full appraisal.

Brief appraisals

“Brief appraisals” are limited to the most important facts that are relevant for the assessment of the used machine & system.

Possible variants of a short appraisal

  • Depending on the provider and contractual agreement, brief appraisals have different forms and contents. Brief appraisals can contain, for example
  • Value reports with a brief description, which do not contain a calculation of the reported used machine value, but only a value result,
  • rough calculations based on information provided by the client, which are not checked by the valuer,
  • value calculations according to only one valuation method or
  • a complete value calculation, but without photo documentation and other attachments.

What are brief appraisals suitable for?

  • Brief appraisals provide a general market price estimate, but do not provide conclusive information about the market value.
  • Brief appraisals can be useful, for example, for newer machinery and equipment where there are only a limited number of value-influencing features.
  • A brief appraisal may already prove suitable for convincing a prospective buyer of a realistic purchase price.

The disadvantages of a brief appraisal:

  • Brief appraisals are generally not suitable for use in court.
  • Only obvious and significant machine defects are included in a brief appraisal. Equipment defects are not usually examined in detail.
  • Without inspecting the property, the statements made in a brief report are usually not comprehensible for those unfamiliar with the property.
